ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Aariz.
I’m a McMaster Life Sciences graduate, a former University Teaching Assistant, and a math and science tutor. For more than 8 years I’ve helped students understand difficult material, and, more importantly, learn how to tackle it on their own.

MY STORY
Why I teach.
“I love making challenging concepts easier to understand and seeing students gain the confidence to tackle problems they once thought were beyond them.”

I started tutoring in Grade 9 as a volunteer, helping classmates with math and science. I’ve always loved these subjects, especially breaking down a difficult concept and seeing how the pieces fit together. But I quickly found that explaining them to someone else was just as rewarding. Seeing a classmate finally understand something they’d struggled with for weeks is what made me fall in love with teaching. After Grade 12, I turned that into my own tutoring practice.
Since then, I’ve tutored high school, university and MCAT students, coached tennis players aged 5 to 50, and spent two years as a Teaching Assistant at McMaster leading tutorials and labs. Every student learns differently, and I enjoy finding the explanation or example that finally makes a hard idea click.
What matters most to me is real progress, whether that’s a better test grade, finally getting a tough topic, or more confidence. I take my students’ success personally and put real care into every lesson, so they build the skills to keep improving on their own.
Today I’m applying to medical school, but my passion for math, science and teaching is as strong as ever. Teaching has been a constant through my whole education, and I look forward to continuing it.

HOW I TEACH
More than homework help.
Subjects matter, but so does becoming a confident, organized and independent student. Here’s what that looks like in my lessons.
Full effort, every student
You get my complete attention and a plan built around your course, your teacher and your upcoming tests, never a generic lesson.
Independence is the goal
I teach the reasoning behind each method so you can solve unfamiliar problems on your own, without needing me in the room.
Learning how to learn
Study systems, reviewing mistakes, time management and test strategy: the habits behind strong students in any subject.
Ready for university
First year is a big jump. I’ve been through it and taught it as a TA, so I help students build the independence university expects.
BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
A little more about me.
When I’m not teaching or studying, this is where you’ll find me.
Tennis
Four years on McMaster’s varsity tennis team in OUA competition. I’ve also coached players aged 5 to 50.
Chess
Playing since 2016, from my high school chess club to online games. It’s problem-solving, just with a board.
Hiking
Exploring trails around Ontario since 2018. It’s my favourite way to reset after a busy week.
Gym
Training regularly. Small, consistent effort builds strength, and the same is true for studying.
Piano
Playing since 2011. Years of practice taught me the patience I bring to every lesson.
Giving back
Volunteer crisis line responder since 2024 and food bank volunteer. People come first.
Let’s build your confidence together.
Tell me what you’re working on, and we’ll make a plan that fits your course and your goals.
